Mirage Album

Home  •

After a hiatus following the completion of the Tusk Tour in 1980 the band went to France to begin work on their 13th studio album. The soft rock heavy Mirage was released on June 18, 1982. Nicks contributed three songs to the album: That’s Alright which was written during the Buckingham Nicks days, Straight Back, and Gypsy. Straight Back was about the ending of her relationship with producer & friend Jimmy Iovine and having to return to work with Fleetwood Mac while working on her solo career. While the popular Gypsy was about her life before becoming famous with the band which is hinted at in the lyrics so i’m back to the velvet underground Back to the floor, that I love. To a room with some lace and paper flowers. Back to the gypsy that I was.. The single was accompanied by a lavish music video that she had to leave rehab in order to film. When released it was one of MTV’s first World Premiere Music Videos in 1982.
